The Enneagram Subtypes For Mental Health Professionals

Join Elaine and Noah for this 6-hour workshop on Friday, May 19th from 9AM-4PM Pacific Time. The subtypes are body-based instinctual drives that we unconsciously rely on for survival—your clients may be way over-invested in a particular instinctual arena without any awareness of it. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the essentials of all 3 instinctual subtypes (listed below):

  • Longing for intimacy (one-to-one)

  • Seeking community and social interaction (social)

  • Wanting basic survival needs met (self-preservation)

How each subtype shows up in the lives of your clients will become clearer as we discuss and share subtype experiences. You’ll also get to see how each of these survival instincts has impacted your own life and practice. We’ll discuss how to help clients understand their dominant subtypes as essential driving forces behind their behavior.

Depending on the interests of the group, we may explore:

  • The basics of all three instinctual subtypes (characteristics, strengths, struggles, concerns, etc.)

  • Finding your and your clients’ dominant subtype

  • What “subtype stacking” means

  • How instinctual subtypes show up in daily life

  • How certain places, situations, and eras of life can elicit specific subtype activity

  • Subtype dynamics in relationships (work, family, romance, friendships, etc.)
